Nintendo knows that first-party franchises are its greatest strength, and the Nintendo 3DS finally has games featuring Link and Mario. Now that we're heading into the holidays, Nintendo hopes to capitalize on its newly strengthened software catalog by releasing two new 3DS bundles on November 24, both of which will retail for $199.99.
"The first bundle includes the just-launched Super Mario 3D Land game and a Flame Red Nintendo 3DS system," Nintendo said in a statement. "The second bundle includes The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D game and a special 25th anniversary limited-edition Cosmo Black Nintendo 3DS system marked with the Hyrule emblem and gold-colored embellishments."
This is a very good move, although it's hardly a surprise. Both of those games make great use of the depth effect from the 3DS, and they both feature recognizable characters. Heck, you know one of those games is great, because you've already played it on the N64! Nintendo is making a strong play for the holiday season, and that Zelda hardware looks great. Raise your hand if this is starting to tempt you.
